Soap Opera

Have you ever walked down the soap aisle of your nearby convenience store, eyeing the different brands as well as types of soap on the counter, wondering which one is more effective in fighting off the germs and bacteria on your body (or mainly your hands)?
Well, there are two types of soap you can use, but which is the better one out of the two-liquid soap or the bar soap?

In general, most people would rather pick the liquid soap due to the fact that it is not only durable, but it is also more convenient to use with either the open-close cap, or the quick and easy hand pump. Well, let's just say they walked off with a good choice.

Most people would assume that just because something is labeled "soap," everything that revolves around that word is in the "clean" department and clear out of the red zone for bacteria and germs that a human body could come in contact with at all times. That assumption is wrong.

Take the bar of soap for example. We are all guilty of having had one of these in the house at least once in our life, especially in some old-fashioned Asian households, where there's soap in every soap dish.

We all know that bacteria starts to grow once something that is contaminated doesn't get cleaned up fast enough or if something is wet and is left out to dry slowly in a damp, cool place.

Well, what do you think happens to that bar of soap once you've finished using it to wash your hands or after taking a refreshing shower and placing it back into that soap dish? That's right, it just sits there slowly drying and collecting bacteria on the surface until the next time you decide to pick it up and use it!

Hey, don't think that liquid soaps get off so easy! How many of you love to buy the big quart or gallon of soap to refill those smaller bottles around the house? Did you know that refilling a bottle of soap could cause bacteria to get into the liquid soap? Not many do, since they feel that as long as soap isn't exposed, then it should be fine.

Once you open the bottle, there will almost certainly be a small collection of water around the mouth of the bottle that has slowly accumulated from moisture buildup. This water can contain bacteria that may have been harbored there for some time. Each time you open the cap to refill, you run the risk of having small traces of bacterial water seep into the bottle. However, other then that little setback, liquid soap is still by far the popular pick!

If you are the type of person who doesn't mind bacteria much, then the use of liquid or bar soap should not affect you much, but for those who are hygienic, liquid soap is the better option. Just remember, bacteria and germs are everywhere and on everything you touch. There is really no way to get rid of all the bacteria on your skin, so don't go using up the whole bottle or bar soap in one go!
