Urticaria - Info on Urticaria Symptom, Causes & Treatment

Urticaria (hives)  are localized, pale, itchy, pink wheals (swellings) that can burn or sting.  Urticaria is generally reddish color spots can be round or any irregular shape and ranging from a few millimeters to several inch in diameters. Approximately 10-20 percent of the population will have at least one episode in their lifetime.

Treatment of Urticaria

The best treatment for urticaria is to find and eliminate the cause whenever possible.  Antihistamines are the most effective medicines for treating urticaria, as these medicines counteract the affect of histamine leaked from mast cells.Antihistamines are  prescribed to provide relief and work best if taken on a regular schedule to prevent hives from forming.
