Intertrigo - Symptoms and Treatment of Intertrigo

Intertrigo is a skin infammation caused due to excessive moisture, bacteria, or fungi in the folds of the outer skin. There are not many complications associated with Intertrigo. The most common of all complications is reoccurrence of the symptoms that presented originally.

Intertrigo Symptoms

Itching, Red Skin, blisters or scales, cheesy smell, thrush (candidiasis) are the most common symptoms of Intertrigo.

Treatment for Intertrigo

  • Keeping the area dry and exposed to the air can prevent recurrences.
  • There is no specific treatment for Intertrigo. The most common course of therapy is to maintain a good hygiene regimen on the affected area. Keeping the area that is affected dry and exposed to open air has also proved to be effective in many cases.
  • Good general hygiene helps prevent Intertrigo.
