What is Eye Stye

Eye Stye is an acute inflammatory infection of an eyelash follicle and forms a red, sore lump near the edge of the lid margin. A sty in eye is an common infection or inflammation of the secretory glands of the eyelids. Eye stye occurs when staphylococcal bacteria infect one of the tiny glands at the base of the eyelid hairs and then becomes inflamed. Styes are usually harmless and will go away after several days on their own as your body fights the infection. Stye Eye are not harmful to vision, and they can occur at any age.

Never "pop" a sty in the eye like a pimple; allow it to rupture on its own. Home remedy for stye or home remedy for sty in eye with coriander seeds: take one spoon coriander seeds and boil them in water. Use this solution to wash your eyes daily 3-4 times. This will help to treat sty.

Causes of Eye Sty

  • Lump and/or swelling in the eyelid
  • Blurred vision
  • Tearing of the eye
  • Discomfort when blinking
  • Tenderness in the area of swelling
  • blurred vision of the affected eye
  • swelling of the eyelid

Home Remedies for the Treatment of Eye Stye

Guava leaves, warmed and placed on a warm damp cloth, and then used as a compress; reduce the redness, pain and swelling in eyes.

Gently scrub the eyelid with tap water or with a mild, nonirritating soap or shampoo (such as baby shampoo). This may help with drainage. Close your eyes as you scrub so you do not injure your eyes. A good remedy for eye stye.

Boil 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds with a cupful of water like an herbal tea preparation to wash the eyes 3-4 times a day.

Apply warm compresses 4-6 times a day for about 15 minutes at a time to help the drainage. Keep your eyes closed.

Chalazions (another eye problem) may be treated with any one or a combination of antibiotic or steroid drops or injections; warm compresses for 5 to 10 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day.

Preventive Tips to treat eye stye

Preventive measures for styes include always washing hands before touching the eyes and keeping good eye hygiene, especially for contact users. Never put your fingers in your infected eye because your hands are full of germs, and allow the eyes sty rupture on its own. Apply warm compresses for several minutes 3 to 4 times daily. Application of prescribed antibiotic drops may also be used to help fight the infection. Surgical drainage of the stye may also be necessary if the stye in the eye is not responding to treatment.
