Organic Lipstick more of natural makeup
What is Organic Lipstick? Natural pigments, oils and butters in Organic lipstick replace the toxic ingredients found in traditional lipstick. It is a healthy way of doing makeup and the best way to show your concern for environment. It is part of the increasing trend of green cosmetics. Using fruits and flowers brings in the color of the organic lipstick. These are mixed with coconut, castor and palm oil. Cocoa butter and shea butter are added to give the texture and also color to the lipstick.
Difference between organic lipstick and mineral makeup:
In the technical aspect, there is nothing like organic lipstick because the term 'organic' refers to plant based products. But, if you need to add colors and other features to lipstick, you need to add minerals. So, you cannot call it as purely organic lipstick. Actually organic lipstick and mineral makeup are two sides of the same coin as they go hand in hand. It is not that mineral makeup is artificial. Most of the minerals used in making makeup are taken from natural things.
How to make Organic Lipstick on your own?
Just for ten minutes heat gently the Olive and Jojoba in the top of a double boiler and then add the Alkanet root. Give 30 minutes for the root to give up its color. Pour the content into a jar on the top of boiler, through a piece of cheesecloth or muslin to get the strained drops to which you add beeswax. When beeswax gets melted, remove it from heat and let the mixture cool. Add rose oil and stir gently. Finally pour it into the lip pots.
Tips for using Organic Lipstick:
You are preparing the organic lipstick using Jojoba which is not oil but wax. Since you are not adding any preservatives, you need to be careful as it may not stay longer or else you need to keep it in a fridge. Never use your fingers to apply them, use only cotton tip or micro mini spatula.
