The medical term used for Hives is urticaria . Hives are generally defined as raised, itchy, red welts on the surface of the skin and appears in group and looks like pale red swellings. It can occur on the trunk and other part of the body. Some individuals suffer from " hives ." A skin reaction that results in slightly elevated patches that are redder or paler than the surrounding skin and often are accompanied by itching. Homemade Hives Remedies

Calamine lotion is an effective remedy in hives. It relieve the itch. Other astringents that may help hives include witch hazel (especially chilled) and zinc oxide.

By dabbing milk of magnesia on the lesions, provides some relief in hives. As milk of magnesia is an alkaline solution it helps in removing the irritating itchy sensation.

To stop the itching in hives get 1/2 a tub filled with warm water, add 1/2 cup cornstarch and 1/2 cup baking soda. Soaking yourself at least once a day can make a lot of difference.

Oatmeal can be really useful for hives. Pour one cup of boiling water over one tablespoon oatmeal. Let it steep for thirty minutes. Strain it, and then apply the liquid on your hives with a cotton ball. This also works to relive bug bites.

Herbal manuals often list a poultice of the crushed leaves of chickweed as a remedy for itchy skin. Some people make a paste of water and cream of tartar and apply it to the hives, replacing it when the paste dries and gets crumbly.

Avoid the substances that trigger hives. If you know in advance that you will be exposed to a trigger, a preventive dose of antihistamine can prevent or minimize the hives.

  • Infections like illness or mononucleosis
  • Sun exposure or extreme cold
  • Emotional stress
  • Excessive perspiration
  • Medications
  • Pollen
  • Insect bites
  • Shellfish, nuts, milk, eggs, fish and other foods
  • Animal dander
  • Infections caused by viruses

Hives Prevention Remedies at home

One should avoid tight-fitting clothes. One should avoid hot baths. People who are experience symptoms of Hives such as tightness in your throat, wheezing, and shortness of breathe and face swelling should call the health care providers.
