Skin Allergies
Skin allergies are a form of immune reaction that is sometimes acute and delayed. This can produce severe and sometimes fatal results, in the health industry it is known as hypersensitivity.
There are four types of skin allergies that helps a medical practitioner classify the client and determine the appropriate medical intervention. Type 1 Anaphylactic reaction, this is an immediate reaction that the immunoglobulin E is being activated that results in asthma, rhinitis, urticaria and can lead to anaphylactic shock.
Type 2 cytotoxic were the immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin M is being activated this is due to the disease myasthenia gravis and transfusion reaction like blood transfusion.
Type 3 immune complex reaction this is connected to diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, endocarditis, acute glomerulonephritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. Type 4 delayed hypersensitivity reaction; skin test is being done to determine what causes the skin allergies medical intervention is transplant or tissue rejection.
If skin allergies are not being treated this will leads to anaphylactic shock were the signs and symptoms will appear and worsen the condition of the patient. There are 4 stages of skin reaction allergies; mild reaction was the client will experience warm sensation, nasal congestion, urticaria or itchy and periorbital edema. Moderate skin reaction is a combination of mild signs plus flushing and anxiety.
For the serious skin reaction there is involvement of respiratory parts which leads to bronchial edema, bronchial spasm that manifested by dyspnea or difficulty of breathing, cough and wheezing of breath sounds upon auscultation. The last type of skin reaction is the severe type were in the patients vital signs will be affected like the blood pressure will be down or hypotension, there is already cyanosis as an indication of worsening difficulty of breathing. This is a medical emergency were they will intubate the patient to help him survive.
There are drugs available to prevent skin allergies gets worse, the official and drug of choice is dipenhydramine Benadryl this can either be capsule. If the client has difficulty of breathing epinephrine is already added.
To avoid skin allergies it is important to have a good hygiene like taking a bath twice a day. Avoid changing products like lotions, soap and even shampoo. It is also important to change your make up kit every three months and don't share your make up to anyone.
Foods that are spicy and rich in fat can also cause skin allergies so minimize or don't eat foods that very spicy. There are medicated products like lotion, shampoo; face cream, soap, detergents and dresses that help prevent skin allergies. It is best to visit your dermatologists to give you more advice regarding hypoallergenic products and avoid skin allergies.
