Pancreatic Islet Cell cancer
Pancreatic Islet Cell cancer is a malignant carcinoma that develops in the islet of the pancreas. The cause of this carcinoma is due to predisposing diseases like diabetes, obesity, fever and jaundice. Jaundice occurs because of abnormality in secretion of bile contents. Destruction of the pancreatic islet occurs because major antibodies are not present to fight the cancer cells. It is also a complication for people who are chronic alcohol drinkers.
The manifestations of pancreatic islet cell cancer are change in bowel habit, no appetite, and restlessness, yellowish discoloration of the sclera, unexplained weight loss, frequent diarrhea, and reoccurrence of fever and Werner syndrome. Malignant in nature means the cancer cells already affects the major organs of the body. This is the liver, the lungs and the heart. Once major organs are affected, homeostasis is already destroyed and the level of functioning of the client is decreased, therefore the need for treatment should be done as soon as possible.
Early diagnosis and early treatment is the main goal to eradicate the pancreatic islet cell cancer. During the early diagnosis, if the client has diabetes this is assessed for the three classical signs; the polyurea, polydypsia and polyphagia. For the confirmation of having a carcinoma, the only test to be performed is biopsy and no other tests shall be done after this or several blood examinations will be perform initially before biopsy.
For the treatment, chemotherapy is the only best treatment. During a chemotherapy test, the client will experience pain, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. Therefore, reverse isolation is indicated this time because the client is immunosuppressed and prone of acquiring infection to fresh foods and fresh flowers. Maintaining electrolyte balance like giving oral fluids and antiemetic medications to alleviate nausea and vomiting. For the pain, drugs that have a high content of analgesia to subside the pain the most common type of drug is Morphine. Morphine has addictive contents that are why this is not taken if there is no prescription being given by the license doctor.
High caloric food intake, this is for the diet of the client to restore the energy every after chemotherapy session. If chemotherapy session is finished and the condition of the client improves, he must maintain to take chemotherapeutic drugs this is usually oral because as the immune system is deplete, the cancer can continue to metastasize and death may occur to the body.
