Merkell cell carcinoma
Merkell cell carcinoma is a rare type of skin cancer but this is malignant type of cancer. This is common among older people you have a long-term exposure in the sun and immunosuppressed. The metastasis is fast and can affect the large part of the body including the major organs. The signs and symptoms of merkell cell carcinoma are not clear because the nodules that will appear are painless and very small but within a few days, this can spread easily.
The only sign that you will noticed is the nodule has a shiny bright color like red, blue and purple. They appear in the neck and face only but can develop in other regions of the body even the parts that are not expose in the sun. All you need to do is take note of the color, the number the size at the location where first appear. It is still unclear of what is the real cause of merkell cell carcinoma because according to research, the first layer of the skin, which is the epidermis, is the only one involve since this is related to sun exposure.
DO's and DON'Ts
DON'Ts:
Artificial sunlight- the popular name for artificial sunlight is skin tanning which white races get the hobby to have a fair skin like Asians. However, the longer the exposure to artificial sunlight the ultraviolet rays causes harmful effects of the body like skin cancer.
Depleted Immune System - due to over dosage or drug dependents merkell cell carcinoma is developed for clients who have low immune resistance because their intrinsic factor is not develop to fight against infections and T cells are easily destroyed.
Older Adults - this is common among older adults, although aging is a normal process some undergo aging process very fast. An example of this is, a 30-year-old client looks like 50 years old already because the good cell that keeps the skin hydrated are easily damage due to sun exposure.
10am - 3pm - avoid sun exposure at this time because ultraviolet rays directly affect the systemic part of the body and destroy the outer layer of the skin the epidermis.
DO's
Apply sun protection substances with a Sun protection factor of 15 and above. When you choose the lotion, keep in mind that the higher the SPF the greater the effect and more expensive.
Wear long sleeves, hat or umbrella for people who will need to work under the sun. You need to rest for at least 30 minutes upon exposure.
For the confirmatory test of Merkell Cell Carcinoma, biopsy of the nodules is the only definitive test to determine that a client is positive. Several treatments are available for this if the cancer does not affect other parts of the body.
