Red Hair Color Ideas

Red is a very powerful hair color. Many celebrity icons have had red hair, including Lucille Ball, Reba McIntyre, Julia Roberts and, most recently, Lindsay Lohan. Choosing a shade of red hair color can be somewhat difficult, mainly because there are different shades to choose from. Here are some of the tips for choosing a shade of red for your own hair color.

Choosing a Red Hair Color Shade

Consider Your Skin Tone

Your skin tone can play a very big role in the shade of red that will look right on you. If you have a fair skin tone, go for a lighter shade of red. People with a medium tone may want to consider a more fiery shade of red, similar to carrot top or Lindsay Lohan's natural shade. Women with darker skin tones may want to think about a darker shade of red, such as auburn.

Consider Your Eye Color

If you have lighter eyes, then consider opting for a lighter shade of red. On the other hand, if you have darker eyes, then a darker shade will be best. Medium shades of red will generally work very well with either light or dark eyes. However, it will really depend on a combination of your own eye color and skin tone combined with one another.

Choosing a shade of red hair color doesn't need to be hard. The main key is to make sure that you experiment with different colors. One way to do this is to dye several sections of hair (that you may plan to cut off later on) the color, in order to see what you do or don't like. Explore different shades of red to figure out which one is the best for you before you make the decision to dye your entire head that color.
