The idea of a half updo hairstyle is that the hair on one half of the head is doing something than the hair on the opposite side of the head. This can be the top and bottom half, the front and back half, or a combination of the two halves. The most common of half updo hairstyles includes the ponytail in which the top half of the hair is pulled back and the bottom half is left to hang.
The ponytail hairstyles can be dressed up by adding either a bun or by adding flowers of jewels. This is very common for younger girls who are still in school.

The same concept can be applied with another hairstyle of ponytail. In this style, the pony tail consists of the hair from the front of the head.
