1940's Hairstyles

The 1940's hairstyles were some of the most fashionable styles. Even today we see styles that originate from that decade. Some of the truly trendy styles of 2009 are similar to those commonly worn in the 40's. This is the case each year, however. Styles in hair and fashion, seem to return at different times in the future.

A popular hairstyle in the 1940's was one that incorporated the use of curls and buns. The top of the hair was arranged into a gorgeous looking bun. These were pinned into neat styles, usually in a fashionable shape. The length of the back of the hair was allowed to flow freely. This hair was often worn with curls on the ends.

Today, there are current versions of this hairstyle. Women are using spiked curls and fancy buns at the top of the head. The back of the hair hangs freely, whether it is straight or loosely curled. This is a great style for formal occasions.

Another great 1940's hairstyle incorporated buns, too. This style combined buns with height above the forehead. Instead of designing a beautiful bun on the top of the head, these rested above the neckline. They had an elegant grace and style. At the top of the head, was commonly seen hair sculpted to produce height.

Latest Pictures for 40's Hairstyles

The tresses are pulled back with a side bun looks elegant. This 40's hairstyle was very popular at that time.

Chin length 1940's hairstyle provide you a glamorous look. With lots of strong hold hair gel and spray would help to create this style.

Another 40's half updo hairstyle with curls. Few tresses in both sides secure the curls with bobby pins and rest of the hair left down.

Although these were everyday styles, today you would see them worn by women formally. They have the regal class, one would expect from a formal setting. Adding exquisite pins and clips to this style works well, too.
