Treatment for Patches of Eczema
I get patches of eczema which flare up when I am stressed or eat strawberries and in the hayfever season. I am not bothered by its appearance as it is not very visible. But the itchiness drives me demented. I have tried strong steroid creams such as betnovate for years, but have been warned by my GP, not to keep using it because it thins the skin. I have also noticed that it is much less effective when I use it a lot. What else can I do to get relief from eczema? |

In the case of eczema, the prevention is the best option, although it is admittedly hard in your case especially if it means staying indoors during the hayfever season. Moisturising your skin with a bath oil, soap substitute or a cream such as aqueous cream or E45 can keep the eczema in check. Oral antihistamines such as clarityn or piriton can relieve the itch. Acupuncture and homeopathy help some sufferers from eczema. Chinese herbal remedies are also effective in eczema treatment. |
